Surfaces that last
Driveways, carparks & hardstand
Excavated, based and compacted to the right levels and falls.
Ground up
Base right, surface lasts
A surface is only as good as what is under it. We cut to grade, lay and compact the base course, and get the falls right so water goes where it should, whether the top coat is metal, concrete or asphalt.
Residential & rural
New driveways
New driveways and driveway rebuilds for homes, lifestyle blocks, orchards and farms. Excavation, base course, compaction and metal surfacing, or full preparation for your concrete or asphalt contractor.
Commercial & industrial
Carparks & hardstand
Commercial carparks and industrial hardstand yards built for trucks, machinery and container loads. Bulk excavation, drainage, base construction and compaction, staged around your site's operation.
Our process
How we build them
Nearly every driveway that fails, fails from water first. So the build order matters more than the top coat.
-
Assess the subgrade
We look at what is under the surface before we quote, not after we start, because the ground decides the build-up.
-
Cut to grade
Excavate to the depth your use needs, with crossfall and water management designed in from the start.
-
Build up in layers
Base course laid and compacted in layers rather than dumped and rolled once, so the whole depth locks together.
-
Finish to level
Metal surfaced and trimmed, or prepared to the point your concrete or asphalt contractor takes over.
What we build
Gravel, metal & rural races
Different surfaces suit different ground and different traffic. We build all of these across the Bay of Plenty, Coromandel and Waikato, from Tauranga and Katikati through to Cambridge and Hamilton.
Homes & lifestyle blocks
Gravel driveways
Gravel driveways for homes, baches and lifestyle blocks. We cut to grade, compact the base and finish with the topping you want, and our own trucks deliver the gravel, so one crew handles the lot.
Farms & long runs
Metal driveways
Compacted metal driveways for farms, orchards and long rural runs. Base course laid in layers with the crossfall built in, so the surface sheds water instead of turning into potholes.
Stock & tankers
Farm races & rural
Farm races and rural accessways that stand up to stock, tankers and machinery in all weather, with race metal carted in from the quarry by our own trucks.
Tired surfaces
Repairs & regrades
We regrade and re-metal tired driveways, fix the drainage that is causing potholes, and rebuild failed sections, so you do not always need a full rebuild.
GPS & 3D design
Levels you can check
GPS machine control and in-house 3D design mean the levels and falls are built to the drawing, not to eye. On commercial jobs, that is a surface your engineer can sign off without surprises.
Driveway FAQ
Asked before you ask
How deep does a metal driveway base need to be?
It depends on your ground and what will run on it. As a rule of thumb, a car driveway on sound ground needs around 100 to 150mm of compacted base course, while trucks, machinery or soft ground need more. That is why we assess the subgrade before we quote, not after we start.
Why do you compact in layers instead of rolling once?
Base metal locks together properly when it is laid and compacted in layers. Tipping the full depth in one go and rolling the top leaves the lower material loose, and the driveway settles, ruts and potholes within a season or two. Layered compaction is slower on the day and far cheaper over the years.
How do you stop potholes and washouts?
Nearly every driveway that fails, fails from water first. We build in crossfall so water sheds off the surface instead of tracking down the wheel paths, and add water tables, culverts or drainage where the ground needs it.
Metal, concrete or asphalt: which should I choose?
Metal is the most cost-effective option for rural and long driveways, and easy to maintain and top up. If you want concrete or asphalt, the base build-up matters even more, and we prepare driveways to the point your concrete or asphalt contractor takes over.
Do you fix existing driveways or only build new ones?
Both. We regrade and re-metal tired driveways, fix drainage that is causing potholes, and rebuild sections that have failed, as well as building new driveways from the ground up.
What does a new driveway cost?
It comes down to length, ground conditions, drainage and the base depth your use needs, so we do not guess from the phone. Site visits and quotes are free, and you get a straight answer on build-up, timing and price.
